Rules Respecting the Traveling Gavel These Rules have been up-dated by the Masters’, Past Masters’ & Wardens Association, as of 2006, to govern the passing of the Traveling Gavel from District Lodge to Lodge. 1. The Gavel may be claimed at ANY Regular meeting of the Lodge which has it in its possession; 2. The claiming Lodge must have a minimum of 5 of its members present; 3. Brethren with membership in more than one Lodge may be counted for only one; 4. The Lodge having the greatest number of members present shall claim the Gavel, however, in the advent of Lodges having equal numbers of members present, no Lodge may lay claim to the Gavel on the occasion; 5. In the advent that the District Deputy Grand Master’s Team is in attendance, they shall not be eligible to be counted; 6. Lodges attending the District Deputy Grand Master on an Official Visit as the accompanying Lodge are ineligible to lay claim to the Gavel -30-
