DDGM Messages for 2004-2005

…presented at Brant Lodge No. 45, Brantford, March 8, 2005.

Brethren, in keeping with our theme this year of Communication and openness, as well as positive change in our district, I would like to share some thoughts with you this evening from the DDGM Communiqué, the February issue, from our Grand Master. This is very appropriate as Brant Lodge seems to be blessed with quite a few new applications.

Sometimes we make a fuss over a newly initiated Brother then after the first couple of meetings he is left to his own devices. We must make newer brethren feel welcome at all times. We do not ensure that all new members "buy in "to the lodge. They must be made aware that they are an integral part of our organization. Past Masters and Grand Lodge Office rs should not dominate, they have had their moment in the sun and should stand aside where possible to let others shine their light on Lodge. Meetings must be made interesting. There shouldn't be prolonged discussion and argument on mundane topics. Brevity must be kept in mind, that is avoidance of long drawn out evenings. Solid Masonic Education and outside speakers should be encouraged. Look at your summons and try to be innovative by sprucing up the summons and making it interesting. We should all be encouraged to make a daily advancement in Masonic Knowledge. We must strive at all times to ensure that we give all new members every opportunity to become quality men in every respect. Each of you as individuals are the best advertisement for our Fraternity.

Finally I would encourage all of you to consider that Change is a Good thing, if it is embraced in a positive and fraternal manner. These are not easy times we live in. The Building has been sold your Lodge is relocating with all the challenges and opportunities that this presents. If we all pull together we can accomplish anything. I truly believe that we have the power, the Power of Belief and Confidence in ourselves and each other to overcome all difficulties. Raise ignorance from despair and move forward strong and diligent with dignity and dispatch. God Bless all of you tonight.
