…presented at Hiram Lodge No. 319, Hagersville, November 11, 2004.
This evening I would like to share with you part of the DDGM communique sent from the grand master. However let's start off with a wee story. Mymum is 82 and one of her dear friends is a past grand matron of the OES and a past district deputy grand matron of the Tayside district in Scotland . They have had a lot of difficulty with their temple building in Dundee as we have had in Brantford . I was explaining to my mum by phone the problems and the fact that the building may be sold. Now my mum is just a wee bit deaf. I told her that we may have to move maybe to the Shriners club. "well says she the Slimmers club would be a good place for you masons to move to!!!!!!!"
This is the month of remembrance a time when we should take a few moments to remember the sacrifice made by so many in order that we may enjoy the freedoms that are so much part of our lives. But the act of remembrance should be an every day event in the heart of every mason.
We must use every opportunity to spotlight free masonry to the general public. Let people in your community know that we support the children's safety village of Brant . That we give bursaries every year to needy students. Show enthusiasm and positiveness to your friends and family. Remember if you make someone smile today you have had success.
Once again brethren i would remind you that we live in a crazy paradoxical world, bigger buildings shorter tempers. Big men small character we rush but don't wait however communication is the key show love for those you love and for all mankind. God bless.
Remember the gift of gratitude can't be bought. Anyone can have it, it's free for the asking and the choosing. Thank each person you love for who they are.
Finally thanks again for the participation of this lodge, St. George Lodge in the district project and for contributing to the ongoing success of Brant District . My thoughts prayers and best wishes are with you tonight, and if you can remember, say a wee prayer for your DDGM and our past DDGMs too. God bless.
